Meet the Author

I am a writer, cancer survivor, speaker, advocate, recreational therapist/child life specialist, and traveler. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but currently live in a Motorhome with my husband and our two dogs (Akiro, an Akita, and Scarlet, a Belgian Malinois Mix) traveling the country. My hobbies include ballroom dancing, nature photography, and walking.  Each day, I set out to make one person smile and live by the motto: Love Life, Live Life, and Cherish Every Moment.

I earned my Bachelor of Science, Zoology degree from The Ohio State University in 2002 and my Master of Arts, Recreational Therapy degree from The University of Toledo in 2005. I am dual certified as a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist and a Certified Child Life Specialist. I have more than 25 years working with pediatric cancer patients in a hospital, outpatient clinic, and camp setting.

In 2020, I self-published my memoir Faith, Hope, and Cancer: The Journey of a Childhood Cancer Survivor. In 2024, I decided to publish a ’30th Cancerversary’ Edition of Faith, Hope, and Cancer.

My goal has always been to make the world a better place for future childhood cancer patients and survivors. I have volunteered with a variety of cancer organizations throughout my life, advocating and raising awareness for childhood cancer patients and survivors.
